Health, Wellbeing & Social Care
Improving the health of people is fundamental to the quality of life and prosperity of individuals, communities and the UK as a whole. The government, NHS and other stakeholders face a number of ongoing challenges including: reducing persistent health inequalities, addressing illnesses associated with our lifestyle choices, and meeting the social care needs of our ageing population. Given the wide range of social and economic factors that influence our health, improvements can only be achieved through integrated action by multiple partners, including individuals and local communities.Health wellbeing and social care research is a growing area for Step Ahead. We can support you in improving the effectiveness of your health promotion or interventions by providing you with clear, robust evidence to inform your decisions.
Our research has helped previous clients to:
- test employers’ views on proposed public health policies;
- develop public health campaigns;
- engage and consult with stakeholder groups;
- improve workforce skills levels.
Examples of our work include:
- undertaking a consultation exercise to establish the views of employers and businesses about breastfeeding in public and workplace settings in Brighton and Hove;
- researching employers’ views on the smoking ban, age discrimination and maternity rights;
- conducting a scoping and review of the needs for One NorthEast’s Healthcare Pillar to inform their workforce development plan;
- investigating the scale of rough sleeping in North Devon, alongside reasons for rough sleeping and possible solutions.
